As part of the protection (28 day trial period validation), the trial version writes to the registry and to the windows folder. When testing the trial version you will need to allow the user sufficient rights to permit this on the workstation(s) otherwise an error will occur. These rights are not necessary when using the full product using the 'secure folder on the server and starting TerminatorX in logon scripts' installation method, but the 'local computer' installation method still requires Windows folder write access.
This problem has only been reported on Win98 computers and is caused by a registry setting being set to 'No' rather than 'Yes'. The setting just affects whether, when you open several windows in Internet Explorer, each copy of Internet Explorer opens in a new window or not.
Load up regedit.exe (start button - run - and type regedit) and search (edit menu - find) for BrowseNewProcess
Whenever it finds the setting, change the 'no' to 'yes' (right-click on the entry and choose Modify)
Keep pressing key F3 to find all the occurrences. On a typical computer the BrowseNewProcess is found at:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\BrowseNewProcess
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\BrowseNewProcess
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-18\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\BrowseNewProcess
On your computer(s) it may be in different places. The default is 'yes' so someone must have changed it at some stage.
TerminatorX is currently used worldwide by many:
